This is an edition of previously unpublished studies by two researchers, A. Ligtvoet and G.P. Rouffaer, on the history of Bima and Sumbawa. Ligtvoet collected data from Dutch archives and Macassarese writings in the 1870s. Rouffaer carried out research on the spot in Bima in 1910 and made notes on his findings. In this edition, primary sources are supplemented with introductions and notes which provide information on more recent research. A comparative analysis of the writings of both authors made additions to and corrections of the works of both authors possible.
