Currently, the larger part of the forgotten treasure lies in the archives of the Society of the Friends of Music in Vienna, who became heir to the legacy of the wealthy composer, pianist, and teacher of future generations of pianists. Czerny created this particularly multifaceted work deliberately as a significant composition to prove his competence to the performer and the public, and he did not fail in his mission. The final movement promises an extra portion of joyous playing and rightfully holds the indication "scherzando." Yet, any performer bold enough to approach this sonata without the right training in dexterity and velocity (to be obtained by studying the well-known methods of the maestro) is ill-advised. -- Der besondere Wert und die Größe der "ernsten Kompositionen" Czernys zeigt sich mit verblüffender Deutlichkeit in der vorliegenden. Derzeit lagert der Großteil des vergessenen Schatzes noch in den Archiven der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien, der der wohlhabende Komponist, Pianist und Pädagoge der zukünftigen Generationen von Pianisten sein Erbe übertragen hat. Czerny schuf dieses außerordentlich vielschichtige Werk bewusst als wertige Komposition, die sowohl dem Interpreten als auch dem Publikum Czernys Kompetenz unter Beweis stellen sollte, und verfehlte seine Vision damit nicht. Besondere Spielfreude verspricht der Schlusssatz und macht der Bezeichnung "scherzando" alle Ehre, doch ist derjenige Interpret schlecht beraten, der sich ohne ein ordentliches Maß an Fingerfertigkeit und Geschwindigkeit (zu erwerben in altbekannten Schulen des Meisters) an die Sonate heranwagt.
